If you are interested in donating used curriculum (that people would still be able to find for sale), please email the Coordinator to arrange pickup or delivery.

Grand Opening Open House
Saturday, March 29
from 1:00-4:00 PM

The Theta Zeta chapter of the National Homeschool Honor Society began collecting new and used curriculum in 2006. The Curriculum Closet now has over 400 volumes from 100+ publishers, including both secular and religion-based companies. Working in a literal closet in a downtown Bloomington building, the students cataloged items and created a searchable database. In the Fall of 2007, students moved all the materials to a new location and began preparations for a Grand Opening in Spring, 2008.

Honor society members recognized the need to have samples of publisher's texts available at all times for parents to make the best curriculum choices for their children. Aside from conventions and hotel meetings, it is difficult to compare books and teacher's manuals from various companies at a single location. The students hope the collection will also encourage families who are considering homeschooling by giving them the opportunity to view the quality materials that are available for home education.

Materials in this resource center are not checked out or for sale; therefore, when you visit, every item in the inventory should be available for viewing. This allows parents to sit at the table with a few different texts for the same subject and compare them. To help the collection grow, please feel free to donate any used materials you no longer need. Books need not be in perfect condition. The only requirement is that items must still be available for purchase from the publisher.

Curriculum Closet Coordinator Sue Jackson, a fifteen-year homeschool veteran, and honor society members will be available when the resource center is open each month. Regularly scheduled times are 10:00 AM to Noon on the second Saturday of the month and 3:00-5:00 PM on the fourth Monday of the month. See the CAHSA Calendar for specific dates and location. Individual appointments may be scheduled by emailing the Coordinator. To maintain a library setting, we request that only students taking an active role in text selection join parents during visits.
