Throughout the year, Heartland Community College offers classes through their Community Education program specifically for homeschooling families.

Homeschool Classes

Heartland will be offering two classes geared for children in homeschooled families this fall sememster.

Homeschool Basic Keyboarding will be offered for students in grades 6-9. "This intensive class will teach you how to type without constantly looking at the keyboard and will help you break bad habits. Take-home assignments will help you enhance your new skills. Proofreading skills will also be taught."

Homeschool Learning and Fitness with Horses "is specially tailored to provide a well-rounded home school adventure. When not riding, you will explore the math and science of caring for horses and polish your language arts skills as you write about the experience. You’ll learn and practice safe riding habits. All riding lessons will be paced to your needs and comfort level. Make new friends in the home school community while having fun with horses!" Classes of Interest

Additionally, Heartland offers many classes open to the general public that might be of interest to homeschooling families.

Youth classes such as Kindermusik Village, Parent-Child Micronaut Mission, 3-D Drawing, Fencing, Chess and Game Making/Programming
High school classes focus on test prep for the ACT and PSAT, while other classes are designed to help parents and students prepare for paying for college and the college application process.
Heartland's Web & graphic design courses are now open to young adults ages 16 and up.
A four part series for parents and teachers will be offered that focuses on meeting the needs of children at different developmental stages.
